The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) released the payment dates for the “.Social Grants of Distress” (SRD) payments and Old Age and Disability Grants for the months of September and October. These are social grants that provide sustenance to millions or support income for those who are unemployed, aged, or disabled. Here are the payment dates for confirmation, along with some guidelines to ensure smooth payment reception by the beneficiaries.

Payment Schedule for September 2025

And there will be synchronized payments in September 2025 for the timely distribution and avoiding congestion on the pay points:

Old Age Pension: From September 2, 2025, a payment shall be effected to all Filipino pensioners aged 60 years old and above with amounts granted at P2,310 for people from 60 to 74 years and P2,330 for persons above 75 years.

Disability Grant: These payments will commence sometime on the third of September, 2025, to the amount of R2,310 for every qualified recipient with medical certification.

Child Grants: Child Support Grants and Care Dependency Grants will be paid on September 4, 2025.

SRD R370 Grant: From between the 23rd and 30th of September 2025, the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, which has been raised from R350 to R370 in April 2025, will be paid out. Beneficiaries must check their status on the SASSA portal for the exact dates of payment as payments are effected on an individual basis.

So, respecting these staggered payments by SASSA will help in keeping queues short for those timely trying to access their funds.

October 2025 payment dates

The payment schedule for October 2025 follows a somewhat similar pattern but with adjustments for public holidays and operational reasons: The first payment of Old Age Pension is made from October 2, 2025. Payments for the Disability Grant will be made on October 3, 2025. Payments for Children’s Grants will have to be made from October 4, 2025. Payment for the SRD R370 Grants will be made from October 25 to 31, 2025, and beneficiaries are advised to check their exact payment date using the SASSA status check tool. Also, SASSA prompts beneficiaries to take note that they have money sitting in their accounts until they decide to withdraw it, so they should not feel pressured to cash it out the very first day.

Helpful Tips Preventing Delayed Grant Collections

The beneficiaries need to take these steps to avoid delays:

Updating Personal Information: It is advisable that any beneficiary provide Sassa with a telephone number and bank account number which are up to date so that no complications can arise in payments.

Check Grant Status: A person can check on the status of their grant and the date of payment on www.sassa.gov.za or perhaps via WhatsApp with this number 082 046 8553, or even call at 0800 60 10 11.

Planning Visits: Essentially, what is to be avoided is visiting ATMs or pay points like Shoprite, Pick and Pay, or post offices at peak times since these places are prone to long waiting times.

Warning!: There has been a surge in fraudulent activities lately -be wary! Always verify any and every SASSA communication through the official platform and trust no other source.

Challenges Averting

Suggestions were that biometric verification be said to secure payment points further through a valid form of identification. Beneficiaries undergoing late payments and errors of card issuance must immediately inform SASSA or visit any SASSA office near them. These services also include financial counseling that could assist communities.
